Ask a question. Get the answer, with its sources.

Type a question into the search box, like When is the spring launch?, and Ask Freesbe answers at the top of the results. It reads the messages you can see, writes a short answer, and puts a numbered link after each sentence. When the messages don't answer the question, it says so instead of guessing.

  • The answer to who said what is a question away, not a scroll through three channels.
  • Every sentence links to the message it came from, so you can check it in one click.
  • It says when the messages don't answer the question, rather than making something up.
  • Ask in your own language and find an answer written in another.

For New joiners, managers and anyone who needs what was decided without rereading the thread.

Ask Freesbe answering When is the spring launch?: the launch is on April 14, QA starts Monday, and Tom has the feature flags ready, each sentence linked to its message

An answer with a link on every sentence

A question gets an answer straight away: anything ending in a question mark, or starting with who, what, when, where, why or how. For anything else, click Ask. The answer shows as it's written and the numbered links appear once it's done; click a number, or a source under the answer, to jump to the message in its conversation. If it takes more than about 45 seconds, the box says so and offers Try again.

Plain words become filters

Files Dana shared in #sales last week looks in #sales, for messages from Dana with files, last week. Ask Freesbe shows what it understood as chips, and Search with these filters runs the same search with the filters typed out, so you can see every match. Choose In #channel above the results to ask about the conversation you have open only. You can ask in your own language: Freesbe also searches for the words in English, so a question in Spanish finds an answer written in English.

Only what you could find yourself

Ask Freesbe reads only the messages you can already see: public channels, your private channels and your DMs. Someone else asking the same question can get a different answer. It reads each message again as it is now before answering, so a deleted message is never used. Every sentence has to come from a message; when nothing answers the question, it says so and shows what came closest. The answer is for you alone, and nothing is posted.

Ask the docs, too

On any help guide or knowledge base article, Ask the docs at the bottom right takes a question in plain words and answers from the guides and the knowledge base, with links to the sections it used. If the guides don't cover it, you get Contact support instead, so you're never left with a guess.

Questions

Which plan includes this?
Every plan, including Free. Each question counts as one AI request from the workspace's monthly allowance, which grows with the plan; /pricing/limits/ lists them. Guests can search, but can't use Ask Freesbe.
What can the AI see?
Only the messages you can already see: public channels, your private channels and your DMs. It never reads channels you can't open or other people's DMs, and each message is read again as it is now, so a deleted one is never used.
What if the answer isn't in the messages?
It says so and shows what came closest, instead of guessing. It can still get things wrong or miss that something changed later, so check the sources before you act on an answer.
Can admins turn it off?
Yes. If an admin turns AI features off, the Ask Freesbe box goes away and search works as before.
